Welcome to take Startup Climate Action with us!

Startup Climate Action is a challenge-driven initiative by Sting and Norrsken aiming to create more fast-growing startups that contribute innovative and scalable solutions to combat climate change.

The third phase - Test Drive Climate Action - is now coming to an end at the Grand Finale on 23 November 2020. In 2021, Sting will run its first-ever Sting Accelerate Climate Action program.

The timeline

Why are we doing this?

Our mission is to find new solutions to fight climate change by creating and accelerating promising climate startups. We must stabilize Earth’s temperature rise at 1.5°C. To do so we need to cut greenhouse gas emission by half every 10 years (the Carbon Law) and reach net-zero emissions by 2050. We are rapidly running out to time and we all need to join forces to help fight climate change. We believe climate action startups could make a significant contribution.

The Startup Climate Action initiative was launched in June 2020 when 13 leading heavy-weight Swedish Climate Champions presented 13 Climate Challenges that need to be solved. The initiative has a challenge-driven process where the most promising startups were invited to join the next round.

The Ideation phase brought together ideas and talents on an online innovation platform. 1000+ talents from 72 countries turned into 500+ co-founders and started 220+ startups.

52 teams continued to the Deep Dive and received individual coaching, mentoring, and got invited to an exclusive one-day Bootcamp. Read more in the news.

The best ideas per challenge were selected to join Test Drive Climate Action, a 6-week pre-accelerator program. On November 23rd, the startups will present their ideas and solutions in progress in the Test Drive Grand Finale and a jury will select the best three ideas.

In 2021 Sting will run a dedicated Climate Action Accelerator for up to 6 carefully selected startups. The #1 Winner from the Test Drive Grand Finale will get one spot, and Winners #2 and #3 will be invited directly to the selection pitch-final.

The application to this first-ever Sting Accelerate Climate Action program is open until 1 December 2o2o and any climate startup that has launched an MVP and is ready to accelerate is welcome to apply.
